The Lewistown Area
If you are relocating to the Lewistown area, we can help you. Call or email us with a list of your needs. Whether you want to be in or out of town, number of children, proximity to schools, animals, we can find a home to satisfy all your needs. We will begin looking for you before you even get here to have a list of properties suitable for your inspection.
AREA SIGHTS AND EVENTS
We have created a list of things to do in the Lewistown with pictures for your information.
NATURAL SPRING WATER
At the head of Lewistown assets must be the natural spring water that the community is lucky to have. People everywhere buy water these days, but in Lewistown, what comes out of the tap is better than any you can buy.
GOLF
Lewistown has two golf courses for those avid golf fans. One is the Pine Meadows Golf Course on the Country Club Road and the new golf course in town, Judith Shadows, an 18 hole course is located off Marcella Avenue.
FISHING
The Fish Hatchery: Wonderful picnic area with beautiful scenery
and good trout fishing.
Spring Creek: Lewistown is famous for the trout fishing and Spring Creek is why! A natural stream, so pure
it is hard to believe, runs from the Fish Hatchery through Lewistown and offers some of the most premier trout fishing
in the state.
Ackley Lake: Great trout fishing. Located 23 miles southwest of Lewistown, out of Hobson. Camping and boating,
picnic sites along with swimming make this a place to go.
Crystal Lake: Beautiful camping, boating area. There is a Forest Service Fee for camping but a wonderful
picnic area in the mountains. It is 35 miles southwest of Lewistown off Highway 87.
East Fork Dam: 11 miles South of Lewistown, East Fork Dam allows for close access to fishing, camping and picnicing.
Hanson Creek Reservoir: Southeast of town, another great fishing area.
Casino Creek Reservoir: A mile and a half south of town, this reservoir is great for a quick get-a-away!
The Judith River and Warm Spring Creek round out the list of trout fishing areas.
For walleye and northern, you warm water anglers, we have Fort Peck Lake, and the Missouri River.
Children's Pond in Lewistown is a great place to teach your children fishing.
They have walking trails and trout fishing along with beautiful picnic areas.
HUNTING
Whether you are hunting for pheasant, grouse, turkey, bear, whitetail, antelope, elk or many
other types of game, Central Montana will not disappoint you. The Charles M. Russell Wildlife
Refuge has a wide variety of game. There are other state land hunting areas in the region.
SWIMMING
My personal favorite is Spring Creek. Grab an inner tube and float Spring Creek for a wonderful
way to cool off in the summer!
More traditionally, we have the City Pool located in Frank Day Park. The pool has an Olympic size
pool with two waterslides. The park has picnic tables and barbecues as well so plan a day around
swimming.
Warm Spring Creek, north of Lewistown, near Brooks is a great family swimming area. A natural
warm spring, 68 degrees constant temperature, set in a wooded park area, Warm Springs makes a
great vacation family event.
WINTER ACTIVITIES
Ice skating at Frank Day Park features a warming building and great ice. The rink is open November thru February. Snowmobiling is a seasonal favorite in the area and sometimes the only way to get to work on time! Cross country skiing is another local favorite and the Pine Meadows Golf Course is a great place to cross country ski if you are short on time and want something really close to town! There are many accessible skiing areas with the Judiths, Snowies and Belts surrounding the town. For downhill skiing, Showdown Ski Area is 110 miles Southwest of town in the Little Belt Mountains. Ice fishing is a treat at any of the reservoirs and ponds in the area.
